Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lips: Review

So many brands launch so many new products each year, it’s difficult to raise eyebrows and pique interest these days… but that’s exactly what the new Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lips did when I first caught sight of them earlier this month. I was instantly intrigued. Taking a classic Bobbi Brown product (the Art Sticks) and re-purposing them to fit the current trend for matte liquid lips, but doing it in a totally different way to everyone else.

They’ve liquified the formula into a thick cream and housed them in clear plastic, squeezy tubes. Inspired by traditional tubes of paint from art shops, you squeeze out the product and apply it straight to the lips. They are full coverage with a semi-matte finish, and claim to be lightweight and comfortable. Now, I’m not a fan of the ultra-matte, drying liquid lipsticks as I find them unbearably uncomfortable so on paper… these sounded like a dream to me!

Well, I’ve been testing them out for the last few weeks, and they definitely pack a punch pigment-wise! They give incredible, opaque colour payoff and the finish is a nice creamy-looking matte. They make your lips look gorgeous, vibrant, plumped and they smell of mint… but they do still feel pretty heavy on the lips, almost a little waxy in texture. I therefore find them quite uncomfortable to wear. They aren’t unbearably uncomfortable, I can and will definitely still wear them, especially for a bold lip, but not for everyday. If you don’t mind the feel of ‘matte-matte’ liquid lipsticks, these will be right up your street… The packaging is super cute and they are a good price point at £21.50, but my personal search for the perfect matte liquid lipstick continues…
