Too Faced ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ Palette

Following on from the colossal success that was Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, they’ve created a follow-up eyeshadow collection with an uber-girly design and a cutesy name to boot… The ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ palette has been out in the States for a while, but has recently hit UK shores. If you’re into all things girly, this palette will have you hooked on design alone but does it actually deliver?

First up for the packaging. The palette comes encased in a pink metal compact similar to the original Chocolate Bar palette with a metallic closure which is both practical and durable…

It’s quite a slim palette considering it’s size, so still quite convenient for travelling and popping into larger makeup bags. I love that Too Faced use metal packaging for this kind of palette as opposed to cardboard as it’s so much more durable and stays looking immaculate for longer. The metal is embossed with heart-shapes that reflect the shape of the eyeshadow pans inside.

In terms of shades, there are a total of 16 in the palette, mainly consisting of neutrals, with a few fun brights included in to add some variation. There are 5 matte shades thrown in the mix and the shades are a nice mix of warm, cool and neutral tones, setting it firmly apart from the Urban Decay naked palettes. In terms of texture, all of the shades (without exception) are buttery soft and smooth to apply. They blend beautifully and as with the original Chocolate Bar palette, the shadows have a sweet chocolate scent. They are formulated with actual cocoa powder, which is apparently rich in anti-oxidants and restorative for the skin.

Overall, I think it’s nice to see more of a mix of tones (cool to warm) in one offering and the four pops of colour are a nice addition to what would otherwise be ‘just another’ neutral palette (as much as I love them, this type of palette is abundant in the market at the moment!) I have to admit, I wouldn’t wear the two bright pink shades ‘Cotton Candy’ and ‘Totally Fetch’ but I adore the deep petrol/teal shade ‘Earl Grey’ and the dark purple ‘Black Currant’. My personal favourite shades are ‘Molasses Chip’, ‘Almond Truffle’, ‘Bordeaux’ and ‘Cafe Au Lait’.

L-R: Almond Truffle, Satin Sheets, Sprinkles, Molasses Chip, Malted
L-R: Cashew Chew, Cotton Candy, Cafe Au Lait, Bordeaux, Mocha, Black Currant
L-R: Dark Truffle, Pecan Praline, Totally Fetch, Earl Grey, Divinity

I can see this becoming one of my go-to palettes this year as the shades are simply gorgeous and the formulations easily as good a the previous Too Faced palettes that I’ve owned and the Urban Decay Naked palettes. There seems to be some discrepancy online as to when this actually launches in the UK with some sites saying we can expect it in February, however it seems to be available on the Debenhams website already, so if you want to get your hands on one I’d recommend heading there!

Will you be picking this up? Were you a fan of the original Chocolate Bar palette?
