Today’s OOTD is something a little different for me. I love trying new pieces and styles when the seasons change, and Autumn is probably one of my favourite wardrobe transitions. I love wrapping up warm for the first time, and this season I’m loving all of the mixed textures, checked prints and that hint of 60’s style that seems to be everywhere.
New look invited me to style an outfit from their new Autumn collection, and this is what I went for…
My favourite piece from the outfit is the burgundy backpack. I finally caved to the backpack trend over the summer and I’ve also been looking for a new laptop bag for ages. This structured number kills two birds with one stone as it fits my 13 inch macbook in perfectly, while also being big enough and pretty enough to act as a handbag too. I love the colour, finish and gold corner details. I posted the above picture on Instagram yesterday and a lot of people were asking about the backpack, so I’m guessing I’m not alone in my love for it!
I’m also slightly in love with the black buckled boots. They are part of New Look’s ‘premium’ shoe line, and while they are more expensive than a lot of their other boots, they are gorgeous, soft leather and have a sturdy block heel so are really easy and comfortable to walk in. The brown sole makes them quite unique too. I was also tempted by the burgundy version, but went for the black to avoid looking too matchy-matchy with the backpack!
For the rest of the outfit, I layered monochrome checked prints with different textures. I chose this oversized, textured duster coat as it’s really soft and comfortable. Underneath I’m wearing a knitted, checked top and a brushed fleece mini skirt. I really like layering different prints and textures, while leaving the look totally monochrome.
