When the original Jimmy Choo fragrance was launched a couple of years back, it caused quite a stir in the fragrance world. While it was a hit with many of my fellow bloggers and friends, I didn’t fall in love with the scent myself, though I did love the bottle.
Well, their second scent has arrived, in the form of ‘Flash’: A less sweet, more floral concoction. The bottle is designed to emulate paparazzi flashbulbs, and the box is equally as glitzy. I love the box, but the bottle itself is not as nicely made as I expected, or as good quality as the first Jimmy Choo fragrance.
The scent itself is an effevescent floral, with top notes of strawberry, pink pepper and tangerine. It fools you in to thinking it will be fresher and fruitier than it really is. After it dries down, the heart notes of tuberose, jasmine and white lily come through, making it a little too sickly for my liking.
Woody base notes make it a little more sophisticated, but for me, the strong floral heart is just too much. When it comes to staying power (like the first Jimmy Choo fragrance) this is great, but in my case I’d prefer if it wasn’t!
I’ve never been a fan of lily, so that might be where the problem is for me personally. Overall I was left dissapointed with this, just like the first time around.
Obviously perfume is immensely personal, and everyone likes different scents, so if you like strong floral fragrances (akin to Marc Jacobs Daisy) then this is worth a look, but if you’re a gormand, sweet or sophisticated scent kind-of girl, I’m not sure you’ll like this!
Jimmy Choo Flash will be available exclusively from Debenhams (UK) from 14th January, then nationwide from the 28th. It comes in 30ml, 60ml and 100ml Eau de Parfum priced at £36, £46 and £62 respectively.
