Vivo Cosmetics: New at Tesco

Last week I got the chance to check out the brand new affordable makeup line ‘Vivo’, which launches into Tesco stores this month, and (despite the slightly dated packaging!) it’s actually very impressive.

The range is rather large so I’ve chosen my top picks from the line to look out for next time you pop out to get the groceries!

The first thing I gravitated towards was the ‘Ultimate Base Concealer Kit’, which contains two shades of concealer, a setting powder and a mini highlighter.

I was hoping for a UK equivalent to my all time favourite Sonia Kashuk ‘Hidden Agenda’ palette. Alas, this doesn’t give quite the same level of coverage, but it’s a good little palette – especially for only £5. The highlighter is gorgeous too (see below pictures – It’s the same stuff as the full size highlighter.)

Next up is the ‘Ultimate Brow and Eye Kit’ which is a real gem in the collection.

Its doesn’t look that exciting on first glance, but the trio of matte brown powders can be used for your brows or eyes, and the kit also contains a mini brow gel so the kit is perfect for keeping in your handbag.

It’s also the only ‘drugstore’ brow kit of its kind I’ve seen… super convenient and only £5.

I was also very impressed by the formulation of the lipsticks: very creamy and moisturising and they taste of vanilla.

My favourite is ‘Barely There’, the perfect rose-nude shade. They come in 9 shades and are priced at £1.99 each.

They also have a lovely selection of baked products. The blushes come in four shades, are nicely pigmented with a little shimmer.

‘Rosy’ is a gorgeous bright pink shade that blends out to give a nice natural glow to the skin. (£4 Each)

The ‘Baked Bronzers’ seem more like highlighters to me, but make amazing dupes for the MAC Mineralised Skin Finishes for a fraction of the price at £5.

Another stand-out product in the line are the Baked Shimmer Palettes (£6).

Each contains a blush and four shades of eyeshadow.

The pigmentation isn’t amazing but they look simply gorgeous and have a really pretty, subtle glitter in them that look gorgeous on the eyes.

Last but certainly not least is the Highlighter (£5). These kind of things are near impossible to photograph, so the snap below really doesn’t do the product justice but this multi-purpose liquid highlighter is simply gorgeous.

Similar to MAC’s Strobe Liquid Lotion, you can mix it in with your foundation or use it as a cheek and brow highlight. You get 30ml of product too, which is enough to last you half a lifetime!

Overall, I was really impressed by the new Vivo line. Although the packaging is very dated, it is surprisingly sturdy and good quality. Some of the products aren’t great, and yes, there are more than a few dodgy shades, as there are in every affordable makeup line, but there are certainly a few gems in there and I’d thoroughly recommend having a browse when the line hits a Tesco store near you soon!
