Sneaky Peak: OPI’s Upcoming Burlesque Collection

Today I was lucky enough (and super excited!) to receive a couple of samples from OPI’s upcoming ‘Burlesque’ collection. Being a sucker for anything that sparkles, it’s fair to say the Burlesque collection has caught my eye more than any other OPI collection in recent history. It’s based on the new Christina Aguilera and Cher film of the same name, which is due for release in December (November in the USA, as always… we’re behind!).

There are 12 shades in the collection: 6 ‘Shimmers’ and 6 ‘Glitters’. As usual with glitter/shimmer polishes, the official images look nothing like the real things, but here they are anyway (including a low down of names and what to expect colour-wise!)

The two shades that I was sent by the lovely PR ladies were ‘The Show Must Go On’ and ‘Bring On the Bling’. As you can see from the snaps below, the above images do not do them justice, especially ‘The Show Must Go On’ which is an absolutely gorgeous deep pink with a gold/orange duochrome shimmer to it.

It’s a very unique colour. When the light hits it, it almost glows red! I love the Shimmer formula as it’s bling-tastic like the glitters, yet not such a pain when it comes to getting it off! It’s a lovely consistancy: not too gloopy or runny. The picture below shows two coats with Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat.

‘Bring On the Bling’ is a pretty glitter polish. If you tried out the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection, I’d say it’s the gold equivalent to ‘Mad as a Hatter’. It’s quite sheer, as is common with glitter polishes, but two coats along with a top coat does the trick (see below). On the nails it actually looks a lot more multi-coloured than in the bottle, the green and pink glitter particles really catch the light, making it a cute choice for Christmas time.

Yes… I did say Christmas time! These polishes are due for release in November, so there is quite a wait I’m afraid! They are priced at £9.95 and will be available online at LenaWhite.com

As usual, OPI are also releasing a pack of four mini polishes from the collection. I usually go for these, as they seem such great value for money (I rarely get through a whole bottle anyway!) at £12.15. This time however, I think the colour selection is a little poor.

They have included ‘The Show Must Go On’ (which is my personal fave) and ‘Rising Star’ which looks gorgeous, but I’m not a huge fan of reds or oranges, so ‘Ali’s Big Break’ and ‘Take The Stage’ don’t really appeal to me.

What do you reckon ladies? Will you be picking up anything from this collection? What’s your favourite shade?

Fleur x

P.S: If you’re a fan of OPI polishes, keep an eye out over the next few weeks as some of their fab shades will be up for grabs in a weekly giveaway soon!
