CoverGirl LashBlast Mascaras: Review and Comparison

When I finally got my mitts on the CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion last week I decided it would be a good opportunity to do a little review of all the covergirl Mascaras currently in my possession (from top) The LashBlast Volume, Length and what is meant to be the best of both… the Fusion.

As you can see there is quite a lot of difference between the brushes. The Volume brush is very large and stubby which can make it quite hard to get right into the corners of your eyes to catch those baby lashes. The length brush is very long and skinny with tiny bristles which eliminates that problem, while defining the individual lashes well. The Fusion brush is very similar to the Volume, the bristles being a tiny bit longer, but still restricting the reach of smaller lashes.

All of the mascaras perform similarly in terms of flaking, smudging and removal: they are all great, lasting all day and being easily removed with eye make up remover or cleanser. The effects of the mascaras however, do differ. Here are the results of each:

LashBlast Volume:

I definitely notice more volume and length in my lashes. It hardly clumps at all, especially in comparison to other volumising mascaras. I have used this almost every day for the past month or so and absolutely love the results!

LashBlast Length:
The results of this mascara are much more natural and subtle. It does lengthen the lashes considerably, but no more than the volume formulation. In my opinion this mascara would be great for those looking for a natural look, for school or the office perhaps, but not my personal favourite.

LashBlast Fusion:
The latest release from the LashBlast line, the Fusion mascara is meant to be a combination of both the originals. In my opinion this mascara adds no more volume or length than the original LashBlast Volume. I found it is slightly harder to apply than the Volume or Length formulations, creating clumps and sticking lashes together much more frequently than either of the original formulations. Overall I can say I was slightly dissapointed with it’s performance.

Although the Fusion Mascara alone is still a great product, I can’t really see why it was created, as it doesn’t seem to have much different results from the Volume formulation. Although it’s still a great mascara, especially for a drugstore brand, I still prefer the Lashblast Volume overall.

For my USA Followers: These mascaras are widely available throughout the US (see theCoverGirl Website for more info) and are priced at $8.99, $8.99 and $9.99 respectively.

For my UK Followers: These Mascaras are sadly not available in the UK, If you are not from the US but are planning a trip there, or know someone who is, I would highly recommend picking up the LashBlast Volume.

For those of you in the UK who don’t already know, Max Factor’s False Lash Effect Mascara is a carbon copy of the LashBlast Volume mascara, only with a slightly larger price tag. You can pick up the Max Factor version for £10.99 at Boots and Superdrug stores nationwide.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these mascaras and the Mac Factor version… What do you think of the results? Have you tried any of them? Will you be trying any of them?

Hope you’re all having a fabulous Monday!
