Tarte X Grav3yardGirl – Swamp Queen Palette Review

Tarte’s latest palette release has been causing quite the stir online this week, and for good reason. They’ve collaborated with YouTube megastar Bunny Meyer (aka Grav3yardGirl) to launch the new limited edition ‘Swamp Queen’ palette, along with two limited edition matte liquid lipsticks, and the palette is simply stunning.

I’ve watched Bunny on and off for years and was so happy for her when I heard about this collaboration, but even more so when I saw the palette in the flesh as it’s truly beautiful, versatile and really wearable too. She’s done an incredible job putting it together!

It comes with a bronzer, blush, highlighter, nine eyeshadows and a brush for $45 or £33, so it’s an absolute bargain in my eyes as that’s basically an entire face of colour products. This would be perfect for travelling as it covers all your bases from day to night for your eyes and cheeks.

The palette has Tarte’s signature subtle vanilla scent (yum) and the pigmentation of the shades is spot on. They are buttery, soft and easily blend-able. The one shade I was slightly disappointed in was Big Baby, as it didn’t have quite as much payoff as the others, but it’s a great base colour regardless. The most impressive shades for me are the highlighter (Gator Wings) and the metallic gold (Sassy Bun) I also adore the bottom row of shadows with a more purple/mauve theme – gorgeous! The packaging is a soft matte-finish, textured cardboard on the outside with a western theme and an aligator with wings (totally Bunny!) and the inside is hard gold plastic with a huge mirror. It feels very sturdy despite having a cardboard outer shell.

The Eyeshadows L-R: #SFS, Natural Peaches, Dogman, Big Baby, Sassy Bun, Sippy Sippy, Haunting, Uncommon, Mancat
The Cheek Colours L-R: Gator Wings, Does This Thing Really Work?, Sweet Tea

Bunny has also created two Lip Paint matte liquid lipsticks in Swamp Family (a classic blue-red which is lovely if you’re looking for a new red to add to your collection) and Texas Toast (a grey/lilac toned nude which is not flattering on me personally but very ‘Bunny’ – It looks great on her in her recent reveal video!) I love that they’ve put Bunny’s signature in gold on the packaging for these, it looks lovely! These are £14 or $20 each. The texture of Tarte’s matte Lip Paints is really nice as they aren’t too drying, but I have to say… for me the palette is the showstopper of the collaboration!

I’m pretty confident the entire collection will be a super-fast sell out, as the pre-sale sold out super quickly. The palette hits the stores in the US (Sephora, Macy’s, JCPenny etc) and online for the rest of the world in a week’s time on the 6th June. Your best bet for getting your hands on one is via the Tarte website here, or Sephora here (both ship to the UK).

If you’re a fan of Tarte’s Tartelette palettes, you won’t be disappointed by this. Even if you don’t watch Bunny’s videos, I would highly recommend getting your hands on this palette. It’s AH-mazing.
