REVIEW: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow

I’ve always been a lover of anything and everything multi-use. Any product that allows me to save time AND space in my makeup bag in one fell swoop is a winner in my books. I’ve also been a long-time fan of Charlotte Tilbury (it feels like 5 minutes ago since I went to the launch of the brand in Selfridges, WOW, how this brand has grown in such a short time – incredible!)

Anyway, Charlotte’s latest launch landed on my desk this week and I could tell from the offset I was going to like it. The Lip & Cheek Glow is a multi-use tinted balm that comes in two shades. It’s part of the Pillow Talk family, so they are similar in tone (Pillow Talk’s bestselling, perfect mauvey-pink that has since spawned an entire range of spin-offs!) but one is lighter (Colour of Dreams) and the other is darker (Colour of Passions.) I would say they were suitable for different skin tones, but actually the deep one looks good on pale skin as well as dark – and although I haven’t seen the lighter shade used on dark skin yet, they are actually not hugely different so I think they are the kind of product that is generally universally flattering unless your skin is at either end of the spectrum, then maybe you might be better suited to one or the other.

The compact is pretty and rose gold as we expect from Charlotte, although I have to say the quality isn’t as top-notch as some of the other packaging in her line… perhaps because these are limited edition (for now at least!)

The scent is phenomenal. The type of sweet vanilla fragrance that is my absolute favourite; think opening a fresh MAC lipstick for the very first time (if you know, you know!)

Now, this type of product is nothing new, Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge does it so well, as does the classic technique of using a cream lipstick as a blush, but the texture of Charlotte’s version is a little balmier. It’s not as dry as the Bobbi Brown version so a little easier to blend and a little dewier in finish. The staying power is better than I expected for this kind of product – it’s not going to see you through a full 12 hour day but it stays well and fades nicely, and of course is easy to top-up on the go, and compact and practical enough to keep in your handbag. I’m wearing Colour of Dreams in the photo below.

The perfect addition to a light, low-maintenance makeup routine that will leave you glowing in all the right ways. The kind of product you end up reaching for every day without even realising it’s your favourite.

The Lip & Cheek Glow is out now, £30 and available on CharlotteTilbury.com
