Charlotte Tilbury – Scent of A Dream

Big news for Charlotte Tilbury fans! Incase you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, Charlotte Tilbury has launched her first ever fragrance – Scent of A Dream. There’s been a big fanfare about it’s release over the past couple of weeks. The ad campaign is pretty incredible, with Kate Moss as the face and 3D virtual reality pop-up experiences on counters, it’s set to be one of the biggest fragrance launches of the year and a whole new chapter for Charlotte’s brand. It’s hard to believe she only launched the brand three years ago, as it’s totally taken the beauty world by storm.

So what’s the fragrance actually like?

The bottle is very old-school glam and the whole aesthetic, like the makeup range, has a very old hollywood feel to it, with an art-deco style angular bottle with the signature rose gold details. The fragrance itself is also has a very vintage feel to it. It’s really different to what I was expecting actually, quite a powerful scent that will definitely be polarising. If any of you have smelt it already I’d love to know what you think?

Charlotte designed the scent herself, with an emphasis on it being ‘psychoactive’ – The notes are carefully blended to attract love, light, power, positivity and sex to the wearer. Charlotte has also shared her favourite way to apply the scent, how to ‘spray the magic way’ in a figure of eight (check out Kate Moss doing it in the 360 video below – just a little more glamourous than my attempt that I shared on Instagram last week!)

It’s a heavy, sexy scent with a strong base of patchouli and a subtle hint of peach. The mid-note of frankincense adds a spicy quality too it, which is balanced out nicely by the addition of soft florals – jasmine, tuberose and violet. It also has a cleaner top note of lemon and black pepper that breaks up the more powerful notes nicely. It’s the kind of scent I can imagine being popular throughout the ages, and Charlotte has coined her own category for the fragrance ‘Fleurotic'(TM)… particularly funny for me, I have to say, but it totally makes sense as it’s taken a lot of classic, floral notes that can often be overpowering or old fashioned, and spiced them up, making the scent itself undeniably sexy.

Scent of a dream is out now, available in Selfridges and Charlotte Tilbury’s Covent Garden Boutique. It’s also well worth stopping in for the Virtual Experience as well – such fun! The fragrance is priced at £49 for 30ml, £68 for 50ml and £96 for 100ml Eau de Parfum. I’m really excited to see Charlotte branch into fragrance and I can’t wait to see where she takes this side of her wonderful brand in the future.
