A Primer for Your Mask?! Origins Maskimizer & By All Greens

Face masks are one of my favourite products. Good ones at least. There’s nothing better than seeing instant results from a product, and it’s for the reason I’m a total mask addict. When Origins asked me to try out their new (and first, ever) ‘Maskimizer’ mask primer and brand new ‘By All Greens’ face mask, my ears naturally pricked up… A primer for your face mask?! Yes, it’s a thing. I’ve been road testing it for the past few weeks to see if it actually makes a difference, and I’m happy to report that I love it!

So, firstly for the primer… similar to facial sprays and lipstick primers, Maskimizer is a mask primer that noticeably gives the efficacy of your mask a little boost. It comes in the form of a clear liquid in a spray bottle, you spray it over your clean face and gently pat it into your skin before applying your mask over the top.

It contains a marine algae complex to plump, soften and hydrate your skin before applying your mask, but it also helps the mask to apply more evenly. It feels really cool and refreshing on the skin and I think this would be a great addition for those of you who have sensitive skin as it feels really calming. It works well with all of the masks I’ve tried it with (although it does say no to use it under peel-off masks) however Origins recommends it to be used with their new ‘By All Greens’ mask.

This mask is another product unlike any I’ve ever tried before. It’s a deep cleansing mask that works as a 2-in-1 mask and cleanser. It’s a really unusual, creamy gel texture that is dispensed from an aerosol-like bottle (which actually uses eco-friendly pump technology!). Once in contact with the skin it foams up, after which you wash it off to reveal a clearer, glowing complexion. My favourite thing about this mask is that it leaves your skin feeling lovely and hydrated at the same time as looking and feeling super-clean. I find a lot of deep cleansing masks that contain clay can be stripping and leave your skin feeling a bit tight, dry or irritated afterwards but this one is much more gentle, yet still effective. It contains green tea, spirulina and spinach, so your skin is also getting an added boost of antioxidants and the kaolin clay helps to draw out any impurities from your skin without drying it out. It’s a really unusual texture, but I’m totally hooked on the results. These two have firmly secured a place in my regular pamper line up, I’m so glad Origins asked me to review them as they are a great little skincare discovery.

Both Maskimizer and By All Greens are out now, available online here or at Origins counters, priced at £18.50 and £32 respectively. What do you think guys? Are you into the idea of a primer for your mask?!
