Italian Weekend Away & Outfit of The Day

This weekend I was lucky enough to fly out to Sorrento with three of my oldest school friends. I love the parts of Italy that I’ve seen before but I was especially taken in by the Sorrento area. It’s a simply beautiful place to visit. We took a day trip to Pompeii, got a ferry over to the island of Capri and wondered the streets of old Sorrento taking in the sights and stopping every few hours for some fresh pasta, gelato or a glass of wine. Absolute bliss.

While I was out there, New Look also challenged me to put together an outfit using some items from their new ‘Tropical Surf’ range…

It was the perfect opportunity to embrace summer a little earlier than normal in the UK! As it was still quite chilly (Sorrento sits on the cliffs above the sea, so it’s quite windy!) I decided to layer up a little acid wash denim dress with a tropical palm tree shirt.

I’m not normally one for double denim, but I’ve been obsessed with this dark wash denim jacket since I got it last week, so I popped that on to fight off the breeze! Topped off with a bright necklace and some chunky heels (much better than stilettos on the Italian cobblestones!) all from New Look.

Visiting Pompeii

More Pompeii
One of many ancient Fiat 500’s, inhabited by a very grumpy looking stray cat!
Tourist shops in the backstreets of Sorrento
The gorge in the centre of Sorrento
My favourite meal of the holiday
Old Sorrento
Capri Harbour
More food!
Lemons for sale in Pompeii
The incredible view of Mount Vesuvius from our balcony

I absolutely loved our weekend trip. Sadly we didn’t get time to visit Amalfi or Positano, but I hope one day I’ll get to go back and explore a little more!
