Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.15

I got the chance to smell the new fragrance from Liz Earle today (which has literally just hit the shops!) and thought I’d share my love for it with you all. It’s a lovely warm, spicy fragrance that I think is perfect for the winter.

The box decorated with illustrations of all 15 fragrance notes that make up the scent, along with a little index on the inside to tell you what each is. It’s more like a jewellery box than a perfume one, and I think it’s lovely. It would look right at home in an old fashioned apothecary don’t you think?!

The 15 notes of (deep breath!) Bergamot, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Guiacwood, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Cypriol, Siam Benzoin, Damask Rose, Elemi, Cinnamon Leaf, Clove Bud, Pink Pepper, Bourbon Vanilla and Vetiver make a for a rich, intoxicating combination.

As soon as I smelt this fragrance I knew it reminded me of something else. It took me a while to work it out, but when I got home I had a sniff around my collection and it twigged… This scent smells almost identical to Viktor & Rolf’s SpiceBomb! It’s strange because the only difference I can detect is that Spicebomb is ever so slightly sweeter (unusual considering it was created as a mans scent – even though a lot of women wear it) and that Spicebomb is a lot stronger.

They are honestly so similar, that if you already own SpiceBomb (as I do…) there is no reason to own both, but if I’m being pernickety… I slightly prefer the Liz Earle. Something about it feels a little more fresh, and slightly more subtle. If you’re on the market for a new perfume for autumn/winter this is certainly worth a sniff. It’s a really hearty, warming winter scent that would make a lovely Christmas (too early, I know!) or winter birthday pressie!

You can pick this up now, Online here or in John Lewis stores. It only comes in one size (50ml) and it’s £45 (weirdly enough… the exact same price as a 50ml bottle of Spicebomb!)
