I’ve heard numerous whispers about MyFace cosmetics’ ‘MyMix’ foundation in the blogging world over the last few months and decided that it was time for me to try it out myself and see if all of the hype is truly deserved.
The packaging is slim and compact, though not incredibly interesting or attractive. It is more practical than most drugstore offerings (Revlon Colorstay I’m looking at you!) A slim, squeezable plastic tube, it slips into your make up bag easily and allows you to dispense the right amount perfectly. The consistency is quite thin, yet still a slightly creamy texture. I’m not normally a big fan of more traditional ‘liquid’ foundations, but I can definitely make an exception in this case. The coverage is medium to buildable which is my preference and it has average staying power (It will last you through the day, but will probably need a little touch up here and there!)
There were however, two aspects of this foundation that really impressed me. The first being the finish. It makes your skin look natural and fresh. Not too cakey, nor overly shiny. Just natural with a very subtle glow, exactly what the majority of foundations aspire to achieve, but few actually accomplish.
The second major plus point for this foundation is the colour selection. The shade I have is Fair 03 and it suits me perfectly. I have struggled with foundation shades over the years, MAC being a particular niggle for me, as their NC shades seem a little too yellow for me, and their NW’s just a little too pink. MyMix is divided into three colour collections: Fair, Medium and Medium/Dark, with three shades in each family. Although the nine shades aren’t by any means comprehensive, they do offer a reasonable selection and the shades themselves are great (especially if you want to avoid those dodgey orange shades!) The one downside? It’s not actually that cheap. At £12.99, it doesn’t represent the more affordable end of the ‘drugstore’ make up market, but the quality of this product justifies the price tag. All in all, this foundation has secured itself amongst Chanel and Face Atelier’s offerings as a staple of my make up collection. I would thoroughly recommend it. MyFace Cosmetics’ MyMix Foundation is priced at £12.99 and is available from larger Boots stores and online. This week, I’m giving away a tube of MyMix to one lucky follower. All you have to do to enter is:
