Cosmetics a la Carte: Makeup from the Heart

Hello Everyone,

I thought I’d let you all know about a new favourite beauty brand of mine, and one which I consider to be a long and very well kept secret.

Cosmetics a la Carte is a small independant beauty comapany operating out of a boutique shop in Knightsbridge, London. They are most famous for their custom-made colours and fabulous foundation matching service, yet they have managed to remain off the mainstream beauty radar. In fact, I only heard about them a few weeks ago, but having heard more about the history and ethos of the brand, I’ve fallen in love.

They have been around since the 1970’s and have had various celebrity clients including Princess Diana, Danni Minogue and (more recenly!) Lady Gaga.

I was lucky enough to be sent a selection of their products recently including their fabulous lipgloss in Fuschia, which tastes like traditional lipstick (and brings back memories of painting my mum’s red lipstick all over my face, aged four!)

The star product amongst the selection of goodies I’ve had the pleasure of trying however, is their ‘Outliner’ gel eyeliner. I’m a huge fan of gel eyeliner and I’ve tried a selection over the past few years including MAC, Sleek and Elizabeth Arden and this formulation trumps them all! It’s the perfect consistency: not too hard or too thin, making it a pleasure to apply.

The colour I have is ‘mushroom’, a deep brown that is perfect for the daytime.

The prices are similar to high end make up brands, so they will set you back a pretty penny, but in my opinion they are well worth it. The Outliners are priced at £20 and the lipglosses £18.

The company is currently undergoing a makeover, so expect fabulous new packaging, a new website and a store re-invention soon. Until then the full range of products (along with a few sale items!) is available from their current website.

Cosmetics a la Carte were kind enough to supply me with one of their fab outliners in the colour Peacock to give away this week.
