L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay Collection

L’Oreal Paris have launched a new collection into their Elvive range this month and *Rejoice* it’s formulated for those of you who (like me) suffer with oily roots, while the ends of your hair just seem to get drier and drier! The Extraordinary Clay collection is aimed to combat that problem, absorbing excess oil from the roots while leaving the ends silky smooth, therefore eliminating the need to wash your hair as often.

The collection consists of four products: A pre-shampoo masque, shampoo, conditioner and a dry shampoo. All contain three different clays – a totally new ingredient to the L’Oreal line-up! White clay to purify the roots, blue clay to hydrate the ends and green clay to revitalise the entire fibre. So do they actually work?
I’m happy to say that I’ve got on really well with this range, it’s even allowed me to get an extra day in between washes (brilliant news if you’ve got coloured hair like me and you don’t like over-washing it!)

Firstly for the packaging. It’s the same as the rest of the Elvive range, but in a lovely bright blue/turquoise shade. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover (or a shampoo by it’s bottle in this case!) but I have to say the colour looks great in my bathroom!

The first step is the clay masque, which you apply for five minutes onto dry hair before washing it off. This is quite heavily scented, which I worried about a little the first time I used it as my scalp can be sensitive to heavily fragranced products sometimes, but this didn’t irritate it at all. I thought it might be a bit messy, but the texture of the mask is thick and (strangely enough) clay like! So it stays in place nicely. After using the full routine together my hair feels clean and soft, not stripped as it often does with volumising or oil-minimising products.

The real test however, is in how long this feeling lasts and I’m happy to report I can easily leave my hair three days without having to re-wash it after using this. On the final day I might need a little re-fresh with the dry shampoo but that works really well too as it has very minimal residue and doesn’t leave that chalky texture at the roots either.

The whole range launches is in store now but you can get it now on Boots.com where they currently have the three wet products on offer together for £10 (link here).

Are any of you in the same boat as me with the dry ends?! If you need a re-balance, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this line!

*This post is sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, however I only ever work with brands I genuinely use and try out the products thoroughly before agreeing to work on a project, so there will never be anything less than a 100% honest and genuine review on here. All options are my own.
