Urban Decay NAKED SMOKY!

Urban Decay ‘Naked’ fans, get excited… the latest addition to the Naked palette family ‘Naked Smoky’ has finally arrived on UK shores and it’s B-EAUT-iful! When I heard that Urban Decay were launching this, I have to admit I was a little sceptical about whether or not it would be for me as I am a neutral girl at heart and I thought that the previous Naked palettes covered all my bases, but when I saw this in person and swatched the shadows for myself, I changed my mind.

Before we get into the product itself, let’s just take a moment to discuss the packaging…

It’s very different to the previous palettes, and in my opinion, it’s an upgrade. It’s made of sturdy plastic, which itself is see-through with smokey swirls running through it. It’s more practical than all of the previous Naked palettes in my opinion and I personally love the design.

It also comes with a double-ended brush which is great for application on-the-go (though with these kinds of darker colours, I would recommend cleaning it regularly to get the most out of your palette.)

Inside the palette there are 12 shades, which despite this being the ‘Smoky’ palette, are all undeniably wearable. There are six full shimmer/glitter shades (High, Dirtysweet, Radar, Armor, Slanter & Dagger) 2 almost-matte shades (Black Market and Smolder) and 4 mattes (Password, Whiskey, Combust and Thirteen).

All of these are as you would expect from Urban Decay; buttery soft, highly pigmented and nicely blend-able. The only thing I would say is to be a little careful to tap off any excess shadow before applying the glittery shades (especially Armor) as they tend to have a little fall out if you don’t do so.

The thing I love about this palette is that there is a good mix of both warm and cool tones (which was what divided the original two Naked palettes) and the fact that you can create neutral daytime looks with this as well as smoking it up for a more intense look. They haven’t just included intense, dark shades, but they’ve given you some gorgeous shimmers that can be used alone or layered to add different tones to a smokey eye. They’ve also given you some perfect blending and highlighting shades with the four matte shadows. All in all, this covers all bases for me and I can see it quickly becoming my most-used Naked palette (I’m sorry Naked 1… I still love you!)

The First 6 Shades (L-R): Hush, Dirtysweet, Radar, Armor, Slanted, Dagger)
The Last 6 Shades (L-R): Black Market, Smolder, Password, Whiskey, Combust, Thirteen

The Naked Smoky palette is available NOW on the UrbanDecay.co.uk website and in the Covent Garden & Westfield White City stand-alone stores for a week before it’s official nationwide release on the 6th August. As per usual with the Naked palettes, apparently they are set to sell out on their first run, so if it takes your fancy I’d recommend moving fast and snapping one up while they’re on pre-sale! They are £38, which works out at about £3 per eyeshadow… When you put it like that, it’s hard to resist it’s Smoky appeal!

What do you guys think? Will you be picking up Naked Smoky? What’s your favourite Naked palette?
