First Look! Nails by Kate Moss for Rimmel

Kate Moss has been working with Rimmel for over 10 years, and the relationship is set to get stronger as Kate announces her new line of nail polish with the brand. Her line of ‘Kate’ lipsticks have sold phenomenally well since their launch in 2011 and having had a sneak peek at her new nail collection, I’m sure these will do the same.

I got the chance to go to the official launch of the line yesterday, and meet Kate Moss herself. As expected, she was simply stunning in person, really friendly, and seemed excited to be telling everyone about her 10 chosen shades for the collection.

The shades are all inspired by music genres, with names that vary from ‘Rock N’ Roll’ to ‘Hip Hop’ and ‘New Romantic’. She told us all of her frustration while waiting for her nails to dry, so she wanted a really thick, opaque polish that dried quickly and had a high shine finish, eliminating the need for base and top coats.

The outcome is really wonderful. These polishes are richly pigmented, opaque in one coat and have a super glossy, gel-like finish. It seems that Rimmel can do no wrong with their new products at the moment, this collection coming hot on the heels of their wonderful Apocalips lip lacquers, Scandal Eyes eyeliners and new Lash Accelerator Endless mascara.

The colours are a range of creamy shades varying from the palest pink, to bright red and deep navy. The star shades of the collection in my opinion are the nude ‘Soul Sessions’ (It’s the perfect blend of taupe and beige, with a hint of pink) the almost-black ‘Rythmn & Blues’, and the bright blue ‘Britpop’.

I managed to get my hands on eight of the 10 shades to swatch for you all, as you can see, they have an almost perfect finish in just one coat!

Kate admitted that her 10 year old daughter Lila, helped her choose the colours, and that her personal favourites are the bright pillar-box red ‘Rock n’ Roll’ and the deep creamy grey ‘Punk Rock’, which she was sporting on her nails during the launch.

They will be priced at £4.49 each, available in Boots and Superdrug from 10th April 2013.

Those lucky people living in the USA will be treated to two extra colours in the collection, which I haven’t seen, but rumour has it that they include a deep, moss green (no pun intended). I’m not 100% sure of US release dates at the moment.
